Unfortunately this has been a busy week so I don’t have a lot of time to write a large detailed blog. The primary highlights for the team came in the weight throw and the triple jump.
Behind the results:
Super-senior Jessi Ehlen threw a 13 inch PR in winning the women’s weight throw at 60-6. She is now only 6 inches away from the school record currently held by Julie Sorrentino (61-0) and 12.5 inches away from NCAA Provisional qualifying (61-6.5).
Sophomore Alyssa Davis jumped to #4 on the MU women all-time indoor triple jump list. The number four seems to be Alyssa’s lucky number as her lifetime best jump of 38-0 was number 4 in a series of 6 jumps that saw 4 of the 6 attempts just below, or at 38-feet. Before her breakthrough Saturday, Alyssa had jumping in the 35-36 foot range.
Sophomore Jon Kusowski had about a foot PR in the men’s weight throw. His throw of 53-6.5 made him #10 on the all-time list.
Freshman Albojay Deacon jumped a PR in the Triple Jump. The manner in which he did it is what stands out. A.D. fouled his first two attempts and needed to take a “safety” jump on his third attempt ensuring that he would get a mark and qualify for the final for 3 more jumps. He moved his mark back 3 feet and took off well behind the board and ended up with a PR!
This upcoming weekend we are off to Notre Dame (again) for the Meyo Invitational. We are looking for some big performances on the track and on the runways. The throwers will be taking a weekend off.
Here a few pictures from the meet:
